OK, so I am a man, and one whose life has been influenced, shaped, supported and shared with women. Here's a tribute to one of them:

Thank you for sharing that story, Gary! I enjoyed it, and am particularly inspired by grandmother stories right now since I will be one soon. Jessie sounds like a strong woman and a wonderful grandmother. Consider yourself part of the IWD Daisy Chain!

Oh Cherie Lee... I am honored and in tears to be mentioned here. I’m down with covid, haven’t written in awhile, feeling out of the loving loop I’ve been part of here. You’ve given so much thought and love to everyone here...your family members especially. How lucky are they, how blessed are you! 💕😊Thank you for thinking of me. I’ll be back soon. Big hugs, sweet friend! 🥰

This is beautiful Cherie! I love the quote you shared on gratitude - such a wonderful reminder. I'm very honoured to be included in your list of great women, thank you. I think the people we surround ourselves with says a lot about us as individuals. Looks like you've created a lovely community for yourself, keep on shining bright!

PS. I also love Jazzercise 🩷

I, too, am incredibly honored to be included here, Cherie. It’s true that this platform has given a lot of us new circles of friendship. I’m thinking of Laina who now has a couple of my scarves because we connected here. And Maura who writes Casey’s Catch and used to work at our local daily but I had never met her. Loads of other women write great posts, and I celebrate all of us on this International Women’s Day. And a shout out to my friend Ellen who took me for an eye appointment this morning, my friend Mary in Texas who shares my love of Edward Gorey, and my sister Susan in California who enjoys long telephone conversations. And finally my darling daughter who became a successful entrepreneur and has now made me a Granny at my ancient age of 78. Powerful Feminine Energy!

Thank you so much, Katharine! And thank you for mentioning your powerful circle of women. There is so much to celebrate here, it's great to be able to share it with so many others! And congratulations on becoming Granny!

I just realized that I left off my BFF Carol with whom I share daily telephone calls and another dear friend Bertha with whom I worked years before I even became a mother. Very wide circle of women.

Oh it is! And that was my biggest fear - that I would miss someone very obvious!! I'm still a little afraid someone's name will come to me in my sleep tonight!

What a beautiful tribute to the wonderful women in your life Cherie Lee. I'm humbled and grateful to be a member of your Substack sisterhood, as you are a member of mine. There are so many strong women I've been inspired by: aunts who closed ranks when I was young to give me a happy childhood; women who broke barriers and blazed unmarked trails; coaches who believed in my writing; friends who supported my journey; and authors who bare their souls telling universal truths.

Oh Cherie!! Your post brings tears of joy to my eyes. Congrats on your first grandchild on the way! What a blessing! I am reflecting on all of the women in my life today because of your writing and on the ways that they have influenced me, both little and big. I could write a whole book! I would love to sit and have coffee with you just to swap these beautiful stories. Thank you so much for including me in your tribute 🙏🏼

Thank you, Rebecca! Coffee sounds so nice. If only IWD could be like a wedding where we could gather our whole circle of women around us at the same time! I suppose in a way we are.

Gosh, Cherie. So beautiful. It made me so teary reading this. All the incredible women we meet along the way that hold us up, encourage us, swoop in when we need them and play with us. Wow. This was so moving to read. I’m honored to be one of many that get to know you 🧡🧡
